I've been interested in trying some PTT FF. How is the shake level in this stuff? I've found the lower priced tobaccos have quite a bit more shake than the mid range ones.

Mike C,
Are you still using PTT as your main baccy? I think you were using the FF. Could you describe the flavor a little. I'm using mainly D&R now after trying all of the other stuff around but still haven't tried the PTT. I took your advice & others about the Zen FF. king size tubes and they're my regular tube now. Thanks, Jeffo

yes, indeed I am.
forgive me as I have NO CLUE how to describe taste, but I think I smell some leftover booze in that thar baccy!!! lol
I like it very much, and as an example of truth, I was given tubs of DnR Ramback Balkan, Rowland Gold, Two Timer, and Venguer Lite, and I prefer it so much I will have to FORCE MYSELF to smoke the DnR tobacco
I am sure many here will moan to themselves, but it's what I like, recon or not....I prefer straight Venguer for sure, and that is the only thing I have liked better, but liking my freedom as opposed to material things, the money savings is too attractive, and I couldn't get Mark to do a cheapo line for me
now, I've run out of Zen tubes and I'm frolicking bewteen Rizla cig size, Windsail SE Elite, Nocturnes, and Zig Zag 100's and I am NOT HAPPY
while Mark and I discussed the psychological factor in people's opinion of tube taste, I now will step forward and say that none of these provide the taste I get from the Zens or Rizla's........
sorry but it's true....
(the Zig Zags are in the lead, but I hate 100's)
I am a former Marlboro regular smoker, I doubt that helps at all, but thought I'd mention it

Wow quick response. Have you tried the D&R Athey regular? Talk about "booze". I think I got tipsy a few times on it. Thanks for your answers..Jeffo

Re: Peoples True Taste

I really would have tried to describe it if I could
there are other folks here that either smoke PTT, or have, let's hope somebody speaks up
haven't tried the Athey, maybe I'll get a chance one day
weekends are the opposite for me right now- everbody is out having fun or whatnot and I tend to rot lol!
my further comment on the DnR blends is that they all seem to taste "flavored" to me.....and I do like a couple of them (Balkan and TT), but I prefer my PTT, so will wait till I run out

I have been syo since the beginning of September 2007. Wanting the lightest possible ultralight, I have been primarily smoking Rave and Stokers #2 ultralight, shoved in either Zig-Zag or Gambler light tubes. In the beginning, the extreme sweetness of the tobaccos attracted me. Over time, however, I got tired of the sweetness, and had decided I wanted to try the People's True Taste. I also smoke menthol light on occasion (only because I couldn't find a menthol ultralight), and also wanted to try the People's True Taste Light to use in a friend's better-than-Camel blend.

I knew I could order People's True Taste from [link] . However, I refuse to purchase a pound of tobacco I haven't ever sampled. I tracked down the phone number of People's Pride, which is the name of the company that manufactures the People's True Taste tobaccos. I called and requested samples of the ultralight, menthol ultralight and light flavors of People's True Taste, being fully ready to pay for samples. The lady I spoke with at People's Pride told me they do have 2 oz samples but are not licensed to sell tobacco in the state of my residence. She told me since she couldn't sell it to me, she would instead ship the 3 2 oz samples (each of ultralight, light and menthol ultralight) free of charge! Needless to say, I was favorably inclined towards this company, given that they had shown me my potential business was important enough to warrant shipping the samples free of charge.

I am very pleased with this tobacco. It has a bit of a sweet taste, but is nowhere near as sweet as either of the Rave or Stokers #2 ultralight. Underneath that hint of sweetness, is a smooth taste which almost reminds me of butter. It seems to me these tobaccos aren't heavily flavored, which makes them perfect for blending with other tobaccos. However, the People's True Taste Ultralight stands very well on its own as far as taste, and is now my daily smoke.

The People's True Taste menthol ultralight is also a very good tobacco. I have so far sampled Rave menthol light, as well as D & R's Wingate Menthol Light. Being an ultralight smoker, the nicotine hit of these two tobaccos was a bit strong for me, even though I found these menthols to be very smooth. The People's True Taste menthol ultralight is the perfect menthol for an ultralight smoker who occasionally smokes menthol as I do. When stuffed into a Gizeh Menthol Tip tube, it creates the perfect menthol ultralight smoke for an ultralight smoker such as myself. As far as I know, People's Pride is the only company with a menthol ultralight rolling tobacco on the market.

I have sampled the People's True Taste Light, although I primarily needed this sample for a friend's blend over the upcoming holidays. It seems to be a bit stronger version of the ultralight, with the same smooth, but not heavily flavored taste.

For now, the People's True Taste ultralight is my daily smoke, while the People's True Taste menthol ultralight is the ticket for my occasional menthol urge. I am very, very pleased with these tobaccos and pleased that the company is smart enough to offer free samples to a potential customer. I strongly recommend both People's Pride tobaccos, as well as Pipes & Cigars.com ([link]).

I've been buying People's True Taste from Habana Premium Cigars- pipesandcigars.com- for 12/lb., depending on how many pounds you buy.

the shop here in Dallas just went up from $13.49 to $15.49,
they said the distributors are jumping on the pre-made price increase "bandwagon"....
so I hung around the store asking lots of questions and rejecting everything and generally being a nuissance until I got the guy to say "oh the price on the PTT looks like a miss-mark", and I had my way.....
I've had enough....there are reasons I spend time cranking smokes...... and one of them is savings....

Add a Brand- People's True Taste
Posted by mike c on Monday, 11-Dec-2006

I just wanted to comment on this although many of you know my experience is thus far limited....I am wondering if this brand has "mutated" from People's Choice???...lets see, of the brands I have had, Top (like it), Bugler (like it), Zig Zag (don't like it), Midnight Special (ok, but not for me), McClintock (not bad), Peace (stupid can, was from cigarettes cheaper, had flavorings, didn't like it), Noble (another from CC, no big deal there), People's Choice (don't remember), Roll Rich (liked it), Golden Harvest FF (not for me, thanks), and Farmers Golden Leaf (YUCK!),,,guess that's about it, anyway, this darn People's True Taste has really grown on me, it has a nice "smooth" draw/taste, especially when still a bit moist, fresh, and I think I like it as good as anything else I have had if not better!!! (oh yes I had Bugler Gold and that's some good stuff when your in the mood for gold!!!)..the PTT is available to me locally at $13.50 a LB, and discovered there is a reason why it is $.50 more than others, because it's better!!! I have found only 2 Internet sources that offer this, and one is a rip-off, but what I *did* discover, which is the reason of this post, is that in comes in a bunch of varieties....FF, Light, Ultra-light, Menthol, Menthol light, Menthol Ultra-light, Natural, Vanilla, Chocolate, Clove, Rum, and now Orange Cream!!! I thought this variety alone was impressive, especially since some of you like flavored, and I am intrigued...I have seen it mentioned in RYO magazine but can't find it again for love or money...I am wondering if anybody can find out if the flavored kinds come in the 6oz bags??? I will try to get some here, but the shop is limited in what they want to "try".....*subject change*...sitting here this morning dying to see what Wazmo, and another posted about "pocket snuffers" but they just won't appear...whats up with that?

People's True Taste
Posted by short sharp shock on Wednesday, 08-Nov-2006

In my search for a decent deal on Gambler, I was forced to try a 6oz bag of People's True Taste I found at a discount store. Not bad, and it can substitute Gambler as a cheap tobacco for my low-cost needs. I returned and got 2 LB's, priced at $13.47 per pound. I still find this a bit much, considering there was only savings of cents compared to the 6oz bag. I like to get my tobacco locally, as I hate waiting, nor do I have the privellege yet of shopping D&R for the good stuff yet. I am not any experct on tobacco cuts and types, all I can say is it resembles Gambler only maybe lighter in color. It is moist and shredded fairly fine! well, thats all for me now, as if it wasn't overkill!
thanks again- oh it's made in Kentucky and can be found on the web
