Peoples Pride

Dec '06: Apparently reincarnated as Peoples True Taste
A simple straight forward inexpensive tobacco. Its somewhat plain taste and smell (minimal flavoring/additives?) makes it a good base tobacco for blending/diluting strong flavored tobaccos. The cut is slightly coarser (a disadvantage when blending w/ fine cuts) than most and easy to stuff. Its a pretty clean blend with minimal shake. Low ~ $11 LB.

I think there is a lot of "shake" in the 3 pounds I have used.

This tobacco while low priced has an odd licorice flavor when smoked. I would rather pay a bit more for one of D&R's fine blends. I like the cockstong and Two Timer with Vera Cruz tubes.

I have tried three PP tobaccos in full flavor, light and natural.

I like the natural the best which leads me to believe that it is the added flavors in the casing that messes up the taste of the full flavor and light. I couldn't find anything which states what PP means by "natural", but I think it may mean no added flavorings in the natural's casing as opposed to the obvious added flavoring with the full and light offerings.

Although the light doesn't seem to have as much of the "odd" after taste as the full flavor, the natural seems to have very little to none and is actually a decent smoke. The natural may even be higher quality tobacco.

Lil Brown has a house blend called Peoples Pride. It's slightly higher at $11.15lb versus H&R at $9.45. I've recently bought the light version of both. Peoples Pride is slightly smoother and a little different taste which I like. Their similar but I'm favoring it over H&R even at the slightly higher price.
