American Thrust Ultralight
Posted by Alist on Friday, 14-Sep-2007

I like this ultralight sample and found it to be quite tasty with no odd aftertastes at all. It appears to me to not be as heavily flavored as say Stoker's #2 ultralight. However, I don't think I would buy it on a regular basis. It's definitely on the better side of good, but not outstanding, in my opinion. I don't see myself buying it on a regular basis. I do like American Thrust and plan to do business with them again.

I have changed my opinion on this tobacco. Now, I think it's excellent. The original post I made regarding the AT ulralight was made when I first began SYO. At that time, I was into tobaccos heavily flavored towards sweetness. Since then, I have tried numerous different RYO tobaccos, so my opinions are bit more informed.

American Thrust Premium Menthol- recommendation- stay away! stay away! stay away! and finally, stay away! OMG! you can actually taste the manure! OMG! And im stuck with 16ozs of this stuff. Yes, okay, there is a slight hint of menthol, and I do mean slight. But, I have to pull so hard to taste it the manure almost chokes me. I did not find these posts in time before I ordered it, and being a true ryo smoker because of budget, I am stuck with it. The only thing I have to look forward to is that I know our taste gets used to stuff over time. And, since 1LB will last me approx 2 months or so, maybe by then I will love the stuff....NOT! DAM! DAM! DAM!.... Eh..I'm a survivor..I'll muddle through.
Again, American Thrust Premium Menthol - STAY AWAY!

Let me just add for the record, although I do not like their house brand, American Thrust as a retailer has treated me with nothing but respect. This is my second order with them and the customer service is top notch. Both orders were correct and properly packaged. Although, next time I will be ordering 16 1oz. samples

Taste buds have adjusted. I'm not raving about this stuff, but I'm no longer complaining.

You are not stuck with your tobacco. Read their policy. Any unopened tobacco you are not happy with can be returned and they will credit you.

Re: American Thrust (additive free) Tobacco

As I couldn't find a forum dedicated to this blend, I figured this was the place to post my comments about American Thrust's brand of "Premium Additive Free" tobacco.

I found it to be less than harsh, but with a woody or stemy aftertaste. Generally, I would not recommend it to anyone. It may be similar to American Spirit, but I haven't tried that one and don't plan to any time soon.

Although some may find it to be worthy of blending with other (better) tobaccos, I will pass. Stokers is much better and that is saying quite a lot! Both Stokers and AT Additive free may be unique in taste, in quality they both rank rather low on the scale. American Thrust ranking quite a bit lower, IMHO. I'll stick with my D&R choices!

On the other hand, I have found American Thrust to be a good online retailer of other quality tobacco. Never had a problem with them on that score.

I'll second your description of American Thrust as a good retailer. I've dealt with them for a long time and never had even the slightest problem, with orders shipped quickly, well packed. I'd recommend this Co. to anyone.

Just tried some additive free american thrust. Yes it does burn a bit hot, but the smell kind of reminds me of pipe tobacco. Generally the taste is fair, nothing to rave about.

The companys service however is awesome!!! Just got my first order today from them.

I have found the American thrust brand tobacco to be good. the American Thrust Premium Additive Free (atpaf) tastes good, burns a little hot (for me,like a phillip morris brand)and half way thru the stick it really looses all taste. The American THRUST PREMIUM LIGHT (atpl) tastes good, burns good and keeps taste, but it is a light taste to me. The American THRUST PREMIUM REGULAR (atpr) is a good burning tobacco, tastes good and keeps taste...[snipped]
