Single Stick Full Flavor
Posted by cowboy red on Sunday, 09-Sep-2007

A Marlboro red smoker new to ryo/syo, I've recently tried 14 different ryo brands to see which I would like best. I found the Single Stick full flavor tobacco to be my favorite. Single Stick has the taste and aftertaste I desire and am accustomed to. Interestingly; while cost wasn't a factor in my comparison, Single Stick turned out to be the least expensive of the tobaccos I sampled.

Tobaccos sampled (and my 1-5 ratings):
1839 (4) nice taste and aftertaste
Bali FF Golden Shag (5) very nice aftertaste
D&R Rowland (3) nice, but sweet cocoa smell and aftertaste
D&R Vengeur medium (3) nice, mild aftertaste
D&R Windsail (3) much too light for my tastes
Farmers Gold (1) not the right taste for me
Golden Harvest (3) good taste, light aftertaste
McClintock FF (3) good taste, different aftertaste
Midnight Special (4) good strong taste, nice aftertaste
Number 2 Stokers (3) good taste, spicy aftertaste
Old Hillside Regular (2) ok taste, ok aftertaste
Single Stick FF (5) nice strong taste, very nice aftertaste
Top Regular (2) decent taste, light spicy/mediciney aftertaste
Zig Zag FF (3) ok taste, ok aftertaste

Low grade taste, very well priced though, does stuff well in the topomatic.

I picked this up at my local smoke shop. Great price on a pound, about $14.00. Very well "shag" cut and comes in a reclosable plastice bag. Stuffs excellent unless it dries out. Don't know the blend "just states premium blend" but it smokes decent. Smells nice and menthol is predominate. Slightly harsh but I smoke menthol so it's covered up fairly well. Lots cheaper than a carton here in Cali. Been smokin it for a year or two. Wife says for her the smokes taste dry ,she doesn't like them.

Single Stick FF

Not my cup of tea. Should be called Stinky Stick in my opinion. Fairly bland, a little better than Farmers Gold but not much. Smells like an old shoe. Too stout for RYO, not stout enough for a SYO filter. Never again.

Bought a bag of the light. It's a little stemmy but I like it a lot.

Just got a pound of this full flavor, Can be pretty harsh. Smells like chewing tobacco. Taste like unfiltered Pall Malls. Will not buy again but at $11/lb local is tempting. Maybe i'll try some light tubes with it

Light tubes help alot with this tobacco, it is pretty strong.    Blending it with other stuff like some halfzware makes it better. It's a strong and sweet tobacco, probably good for those coming from Marlboro reds.

I haven't tried the loose single stick, but I did try their manufactured individual cigarettes. I found they weren't very good. They were still smokeable though. I don't know if its the same stuff in the individual cigs as in the bag. I saw a bag of single stick tobacco at smoke shop in town. Having tried the individual cigs I disregarded the loose stuff right off the bat.

I haven't tried the packaged version, but I do enjoy the taste of the 1 lb. loose tobacco for rolling your own.
Locally I have been forced to try other brands, because my local tobacco supplier has decided not to carry it anymore.
Criss Cross, Bugler, and Southern Cross aren't as good to me. So I now order Single Stick by Internet......
