Potent bright leaf

Posted by AllTALL on Thursday, 20-Sep-2007
What is the most potent Virginia bright leaf tobacco brand. Potent in terms of nicotine? I don't like spicy tobaccos. And I dislike burly. Most bright leaf brands that I have tried are a little weak, however. I am looking for something with more punch.

I had gotten the impression that burley wasn't good, but the pure virginia tobacco is kind of flat without it. Try a sample of Blend #1 & #2 from Custom Blends.   Compare the two. #1 has burley in it and I like it better than the virginia without it which is #2. Both are virginia tobaccos.

I haven't tried it a few years (so this may be out of date), but I remember American spirit Organic used to be all virginia and very potent.

Not to appear crass, but do you know of anything a little cheaper?

NP... All of the less expensive all Virginia tobaccos I have tried (mainly the ones from D&R) pale in comparison to the potency of the NAS Organic. From my experience with food and tobacco, organic leads to more robust- only the healthiest plants can survive without chemical help....

In case you live in Canada, I have read (on here) that Export A is strong. I have not tried it.

I don't mean to sound Contrary BUT... ORGANIC isn't a defined term in either the food or tobacco industry. Organic Food is like Carbon Credits, they exist for the suckers to buy them! The Term ORGANIC Presupposes the idea that there are no naturally occurring pesticides in the products so labeled. That is nowhere near the case and the public should be aware of it. For instance... I eat only McDonalds, I crap and sell you my Crap! I didn't put any fertilizer on my crap hence it's Organic! Now That IS A Bunch of Crap! :)

So, in your experience there is no noticeable difference between organically and conventionally produced food/tobacco?

Further, you think that chemical pesticide usage is irrelevant or equivalent to organic methods of pest control? Organic a fraud, akin to you selling your own feces? OK.....

Just a footnote, I don't like the NAS organic enough to smoke it, but there is a very plausible case to be made that organic tobacco is a significant harm reduction measure.

Reading about Export A here, I see the word spicy coming up more then once. As I said in my original post I don't care for spicy tobacco. Thank you for posting at any rate. I appreciate the try.

Potent bright leaf is kind of an oxymoron isn't it?

I have been smoking a couple of packs a day for about 45 years. The American Spirit he mention can make my head spin from the nicotine. So, I would say no. It's not an oxymoron.

I can't find anywhere where it says that American Spirit organic is virginia or bright (flue cured) either one. As I understand it nicotine content is more closely related to the amount of nitrogen in the soil that it is grown in then the type of tobacco, Which makes potent bright leaf an oxymoron.

I couldn't care less. I'm looking for a decent smoke, not a science project.

Then try one of the halfzwares. Bali golden shag is good and if you think AS made your head spin try Jester.

Try D&R's Cockstrong. The most robust of their products, I've been using it as my mainstay, when the others began to taste too lite. I don't know what's happened, but smokes that used to taste strong to me don't anymore.
