How long does it take you to make a pack?

Posted by Matt on Monday, 26-Feb-2007

So I timed myself making 20 cigarettes twice. The first time I made a leisurely pack while listening to an audiobook on the headphones. It was 8:29. The next 20 I made a slight effort to go a little faster and wound up with 5:53. I'm pretty sure I calculated correctly for an avg. of 7:11. Keep in mind I was at a leisurely pace for both of these packs since I find no need to hurry. I guess that's why I've kept with rolling is that it's a leisurely thing to do & is fun if you make it fun. Back to the subject though, how long does it usually take to make a pack for you guys? I could imagine it being done in 3:00 or less if one tried.

6 to 10 minutes, depending on how relaxed I am and if I'm rushed. Couple mornings ago I awoke to find I had forgotten to stuff my supply the night before. I did 2 packs in under 10 minutes. Not as good looking as usual, but got me thru the day. I didn't tamp them or cut off the excess with scissors.

I seem to get pretty much the same results as you; 6 to 9 minutes a pack, depending on how motivated I am.

I can, of course go MUCH faster, not sure if I can match your speeds, but I just like taking it s-l-o-w.....
MYO tobacco has gone up here, at least at my usual shop, so I created a semi-unpleasant atmosphere, got my old price, etc.
apparently MYO people here thought that if Pre-mades could go up, so could their RYO products
I'm pissed....VERY PISSED

it consistently takes me an entire 30 minutes to do a pack on my machine and I'm damn proud I chose the "Wazmo" method!!!
are you handrolling or cranking? I get confused since you cover all the bases

Cranking for the above times. I haven't timed myself handrolling but I'm sure it would be in the 30 min. range. I really take my time handrolling.

I handrolled a pack of Drum in 23:51 and 10 Bugler Gold x2 for a total of 18:32.[Times include trimming with scissors, fussing with papers, etc] The avg. amounts to 21:53 (I think) It did seem like I rolled them like I was being timed. I know the Bugler was easier to roll. I rolled a couple of huge ones and a complete dud. I really can't say for sure whether I'd be faster with a roller or not; it seems like something I have to be in the right groove for to get unblemished rolls.
