Top-O-Matic .vs Supermatic
Posted by CASmoker on Saturday, 08-Dec-2007

On a note of introduction, I've rolled on and off for about 30 years combined with buying commercially produced cigarettes. About 8-9 years ago I started stuffing with a Supermatic II (still roll as well.) For about the last month or two, I've gone exclusively to RYO and SYO (and found myself with a big bunch of extra change in my pockets :) ) I currently use Sagamore Regular with Zen FF tubes or roll with Bali Shag (blue) and whatever papers I have around, and use the Gizeh cases to pack 21 stuffed sticks in a pack

Recently, upon discovering this site and Doug Kennedy's site, I have given thought to upgrading to a Supermatic stuffer. That was until yesterday when I found the Top-O-Matic at a Costco Business Center for $27.99. While the $12 or so difference between the TOM at Costco and the price of a Supermatic from a web site doesn't mean much over the long term, I'm more interested in hearing comparison comments of reliability, and wear, from those who have had experience with the two current models of these machines.   Both of these machines seem to be well respected, I guess I just have a bit of cynicism for the inconsistency of Asian made products having dealt with Southeast Asian manufacturers for the past decade or so.

toss a plastic cutter on that bitch and you're all set
Doug K recommends getting both since it's tit-for-tat
the Top is a heavier machine so with the addition of the plastic cutter it's probably ahead by a nose-hair
The owner of this site has both and is expected to give a full analysis eventually
right Dave?????

mike, I'll be in touch a little later via your own email, apologies I got sidetracked
for everyone else it's part p-47 isn't it, from Arbro, and Dave came forth and said it goes right on, no problem, re the TOP
even if you don't change out some of the lower quality parts to Supermatic ones the ten bucks versus five will probably come out in the wash by your third injection:-)
