Newbie on El Rey Machines

Posted by Tom Suttie on Friday, 10-Aug-2007

Hi Mike, and many thanks for your welcome. There is a U.K. site called Roll-Ups.co.uk who have a wide range of injectors. If and when my El-Rey hand injector gives up the ghost I think I may invest in an EXCEL, which seem to be more reliable than the more complex and expensive models. Come to think of it I may get an EXCEL, while keeping my El-Rey as back up!

I have been using my El Rey machine for nearly 10 years it is still just as good as the day I bought it. I know someone else who has been using his El ray machine for over 20 years. These machines don't wear out so you may have a long wait.

according to the expert(s), that _would_ be the absolute best machine, were it not for a gripper issue, but it apparently is no waste of money,,,,
I'll be checking on the site you mention out of curiosity, and add that your El Rey is also considered one of the very best handheld models::::
have a great eve, wish it were 6 or 7 hours forward here, I've gotten too old and fragile for the oncoming 100degree assault

On my El Rey I use the tamper from my Concept machine, as El Rey do not supply one. At my local store I can only obtain Concept tubes which are supposed to be unsatisfactory for other than Concept machines.

I don't have a problem, though the tube must be horizontal (or almost), and I give the filled tube a few hard taps to settle the tobacco.

My local store only sells 12.5g packets of Amber Leaf which I smoke and this makes 15-17 smokes depending on the packing of the tube. Larger size (25 and 50g) pouches are available from local supermarkets.

Stuff your own, rather than roll your own seems to be less popular in the U.K for some reason I've tried a rolling box with limited success, and I feel as if I'm smoking a matchstick!
