Midnight and 6.5mm tubes
Posted on Monday, 23-Jul-2007
Folks have noticed (* *) the picture of Vera Cruz Midnight tubes on the RYO Magazine tubes page. The Vera Cruz Midnight (pictured, 22mm filter) and Ramback Slim (80mm long, 6.5mm diameter and 20mm filter) tubes are supposed to be available before the end of the year. Vera Cruz Midnight prototypes will be shown at the RTDA (Retail Tobacco Dealers of America) show in August.
Dec '07: mike c reports that both are now available from D&R.
Jan '08: The Vera Cruz Midnight and Ramback Slim tubes aren't on the website so you'll have to call (1-877-989-9458) your order in (or, as KL suggested, ask for them in the special comments section of your order) On Dec 13 mike c reported that, while available, the tubes haven't been formally released.
Reviews are on the Ramback and Vera Cruz pages.

these tubes should be available in less than 2 weeks, along with their respective machines from D n R......
please don't ask for them yet, I called there today to check but they were not picking up
I will let it be known the second they are available, I left a message....
no clue about the machines, I am curious about them, and will investigate
I believe the Rowland tubes will be exactly the same price as Ramback, but the Vera Cruz a little higher than the Nocturnes- Re: vera cruz midnight and rowland slim tubes

true to my word, slim tubes (are now) fully available from DnR tobacco, as well as the hand-held slider machines to fill them....

mine are in-transit, and I will give my opinion as soon as they arrive, provided that I am qualified to say anything (but say something I will)
I can tell you that improvements have been made to these as compared to earlier incarnations of them....
to me normal tubes and the print on them doesn't mean a lot, but these do look pretty classy to my eyes- Re: vera cruz midnight and rowland slim tubes

I was confused as I thought the Vera Cruz Midninght tubes were ultra-slim, when in fact, much to my liking, they are not
the reason is because I thought with that look and being so long and slim they seemed more for a lady
they are regular tubes, and here is my opinion:
nothing by way of standard tubes has so far impressed me much by way of appearance, especially compared to premades. These are awesome. They are extremely good looking and can be masculine just as easily. This is the most handsome thing yet introduced to RYO.
No comment yet on actual smoking quality, I am not the best person for this and I just got them...more later
The Ramback Ultra-Slims are just that and I can say that they delivered a quite surprising punch in the flavor department. More than my Zen ES FF.
The machine is also quite handsome, is black bearing the DnR trade logo, and is very well made like the Premier one that Dano swears by, and other well made sliders.
the cost of the Ultra-Slims is the same as regular Ramback, and the cost of the Midnights is $3.50....as I said, if you want to look slick, here it is...22mm filter.....the slims are 6.5 mm and have a 20mm filter element

I just ordered a few cartons of the Midnight. Has anyone actually smoked a few of these tubes? How about some impressions.

I've just made up a pack since I'm going out....
...anyway, (I) expect my friend to comment......hehe
I am leaving the smoking test to one or more of you, since I am very non-picky and rather like Dano, except!!! it just occured to me, I normally like the Zen tubes for the nice firm tipping end but Mark's tubes have this quality as well....

Dano, sadly I am unqualified to comment on the paper thickness

the slim tubes are very slim, would take some getting used to for me, but I think I can say they have a unique draw all their own that you'll just have to try if interested enough...I'm guessing that is the point of their existence
the midnight's have a 22 mm filter
ps-not like a cig size...way more miniature!!!

All St Vincent made D&R tubes have 20mm long (high-density for the light/Elite) filters... at least I thought so, seems odd that just the Midnights would be 22mm [but they are]. Anyway the Ramback Slim specs are included in the topic (there's a link to it at the bottom of every post on this page) and on the Ramback page. Tube diameters are 6.5mm slim, 7.8mm Cig size and 8.1mm Std.
