Double Take
Inexpensive tobacco packed in India. Cut is on the coarse side with medium strands and lots of leaf bits/short stuff. The cut and relative dryness makes it easy to stuff. Its smokable in that its not harsh or bitter but I find the aroma/taste offensive (peach?). NLA

I have not seen Double Take and some of those posts are several years old. Have you seen Black Jack tobaccos? They are getting pretty good reviews and is pretty inexpensive through little brown smoke shack.- Re: Double Take

Marked NLA. Ditto on the checking Lil' Brown for cheap tobaccos. You could also ask for recommendations in the MYO Forum. OT thread to be deleted.

I guess I'm the only one brave enough, or stupid enough to try it. I decided that for a true trial that we needed to experience it on a long term basis and I now have four pounds of Double Take in the cabinet. Actually, money's tight this holiday season and this cut the cost of my normal order by about a third. LOL Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound.

Upon it's arrival yesterday, I immediately made up a pack of straight Double Take. To my suprise, and relief, it is perfectly servicable tobacco. Better than H&R, to me, right now. All four packages seem a little dry, they've probably been sittting around Lil' Brown for a while, hence the clearence sale, but it was not harsh to smoke, even all the way down to the lettering on the tube. The cut is a nice, course, ribbon cut, which stuffs easily.
So that's my preliminary review, I'll post more in a week or so. By the by, there is no MSA info on the package, and it is packaged in India, 'Made under authority of the trademark owner.- Re: Double Take

I'll send you a partial bag. I tried some in a bind last winter while at a local shop. Not as bad as Railroad but it was dry. Luckily, my normal order arrived within a few days. I didn't care for the flavor and I would suspect all bags are on the dry side. The 6oz bag comes in patriotic colors and the backside has the same packaged in India information. No detail of it's ingredients other than "premium tobacco".

Thanks, but I plan on switching back to Sagamore when I get through my four pounds. I'm getting ready to blend it with several other tobaccos and see how it tastes.

What I look for in a base tobacco is one that has flavors that complement the more expensive tobaccos I blend into it. That way, I can enjoy the flavor of tobaccos I could never smoke regularly as a stand alone, and keep the costs down.

Well, after three weeks, I'm still smoking it and it's not bad at all. I've been blending it with some Norwegian Shag and I have been enjoying the change. I like it better than, say, Stokers, North, and ZigZag.

Even plain, it beats out all pre-made cigarettes.- Re: Double Take

India is taking the place of China as far as where the bargains are. It could be an expensive tobacco if priced here, but is cheap over there and the labor is very inexpensive over there.

With our dollar still going down, overseas is going to become a lot more expensive, so enjoy it while you can.
