Back in the 60's and 70's Prince Albert and many similar brands were sold in pocket tins and tubs made of real honest to goodness metal. They were sold as "for cigarette and pipe" lithographed on the cans. The Prince is still the same now pretty much now as it was then.

Great stuff, although it is a pipe tobacco I occasionally roll some in Aleda, or a Golden Wrap Cognac.

I like prince Albert. I keep a can around to roll one from time to time. The big red can it comes in keeps it from drying out quick, I had a can for months still fine. It's kind of light, when rolled without a filter its as strong to me as a regular filtered cigarette, maybe a little lighter, I tried injecting it into a tube ( was kind of hard because it's crimp cut, which is kind of big), when in a filtered tube its too light for my taste. I guess its only meant to be used hand rolled or in pipes like its advertised for.

ring....ring.... (store clerk) "Hello" ....(me) "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" ....(store clerk) "Yes" ....(me) "Well, you better let him out!"

Yes, alot of us did that in the 70's. An old friend of mine used to roll Prince Albert all the time. I shared with him. Interesting, decent smoke when rolled. Never tried stuffing it. (nor do I think I would).
Odd that it's even mentioned on a SYO forum, since it is intended as a pipe tobacco.- Re: Prince Albert

I believe the joke goes way back to the 30's or 40's and the full punchline went "you better let him out, because he is suffocating! It's possibly the first form of viral marketing, since it gets across the message that the PA tins were air-tight.

AFAIK PA was considered a dual-purposeTobacco for many years, the vintage tins plainly say "Long Burning Pipe and Ciagarette Tobacco".
