I'm thinking about switching to BlackJack Light. How does it compare to all the other brands, like Golden Harvest, King Mountain, Farmer's Gold, etc. I was just wanting to get everyone elses advice.
Thanks

I think it's a bargain for the price. That said, it is consistently dry. Even with the new bags. I'm sticking with Rave Light until I find something as consistent. I used to be a Stokers Light 2 until they stopped selling it here.

BlackJack Natural

I found this to be a lot better smoke than BlackJack light. The natural did not have the bitter taste as the light had.

Blackjack Ultralight
Posted by StufferJohn on Friday, 26-Oct-2007

Relatively new to SYO, but have gone through a number of brands. Blackjack UL arrived rather on the dry side, but still smoother than either Rave UL or Stoker's UL. Not much character at all (in the UL form, haven't tried the others) and none of the acrid buildup of Rave or Stoker's (from burley? Who knows?)

Maybe a very good base for mixing or for someone who appreciates the more subtle aspects of such a tobacco as it is. Others have said nutty, I'll add some wood tones to it. Doesn't walk all over your taste buds in any case (once again, in the UL version).

Not a lot of lumber in the bag, and it all seems to be of the same size (making it easier to pick out). Shake was average. Hella deal for a tobacco with a fair potential as a base or all alone. At this price, I'll have to try some of the other varieties.

But I'll try hydrating what I have first. Strange, how it makes such a difference with some tobaccos. Makes the harsh turn smooth and in the case of Turkish Export, better to go the other way. Got a rather crispy sample of TE from one of the local shops and it was much more fragrant and tasy than the newer tin that I got. Letting it dry a bit brought up the taste that I recalled.

So there you go.....

SJ

"Blackjack UL arrived rather on the dry side, but still smoother than either Rave UL or Stoker's UL. "

Your comment really piqued my interest. I prefer Stokers #2 ultralight, followed by Rave ultralight, in that order. However, if I don't smoke either of these two in a Zig Zag light tube, I actually notice the 'acrid' taste you mentioned. I have placed an order with Lil' Brown to test the Blackjack ultralight based on your recommdendation.

Blackjack is great. I have been using ZIGZAG/TOP Blackjack loads the machine better and easier Not to mention cheaper I'm switching with my next order cutting cost by 50%. Great product. I highly recommend this product.

Blackjack Light

Big thumbs up with this stuff. Nice nutty aroma. Nice medium cut. Stuffs like a charm. Smooth, mild smoke. This might become my new #1 from Rave Light.

Made by RSB Tobacco.

PS: I tried replying to the original Blackjack light but it wouldn't let me.

Blackjack Natural

After trying American Spirit I was reluctant to try another all natural tobacco. Blackjack all natural is very smooth, and cheep enough to become my new tobacco of choice.

Best "natural" blend I've found - VERY mild yet great taste and not harsh in any way - my "regular" smoke!

Try stuffing it in a Gizeh charbon tube or using one of the filters like tarblock or magic. I just tried it and didn't find it to be harsh, in fact I thought it was pretty smooth. Maybe you got a bad production run or something. How is the moisture level?

My bag was a little dry. That was its biggest drawback. I'll try another bag and if it has the same issue, it won't be able to knock off Rave.

I ordered some today, I'll let you know in about a week. I haven't been able to find out anything about it except that it's manufactured by RSB tobacco in Farmville NC.

I got a bag from a local smoke shop of Full flavor 6 oz. Very suprised at how smooth such an inexpensive tobacco could be. I used with a Premier tube. I think I am going to try the natural and see what kind of blend I can come up with. Certainly worth trying.

I bought some pipe tobacco called Blackjack and found out in a review after I ordered it that the name "Blackjack" was just a sticker over the real name. Sure enough when I got the can, lifting the sticker revealed "Negrohead"'.

I found the Blackjack pipe tobacco online, but they are not from the same company. RSB Tobacco in Farmville, NC makes Blackjack cigarette tobacco and Fribourg and Treyer located in London, England makes a blend of pipe tobacco referred to as Blackjack (the politically correct, Negrohead).

Tried Blackjack "Full Flavor" and "Natural" two months ago - purchased from Lil' Brown. Both were flavorfull and had good (i.e., moderately strong) nicotine content. Fairly fine cut, little "shake", moisture content 65% as received - easy stuffing in Twister tubes on my Supermatic. I preferred the "Natural" and ordered five pounds first of last month - been smoking it ever since. This is the first natural blend (no additives) that I have found NOT to be "harsh" in any way (little or no Burley)? Good flavor, good cut, easy to stuff - great value at $9.90 lb. (introductory price) from Lil' Brown. Choice of tobacco is very subjective, BUT this is my new "regular smoke"!
