Has anyone tried the "Checkers" tobacco offered on rollyourown.com ? It is cheap just wondering about the taste.

Its made by King Maker Marketing, Inc., tastes similar to North or Farmers Gold. Had it once, not bad, average smoke, not for me though, I prefer PS and D&R smoke.

ok now this is a first....i bought a 1 pound bag of regular checkers tobacco and paid 17 dollars for it just to open it and find mini honeycombs and small nests all over in the bag. the store wont take it back and they told me to contact the company themselves to complain about this...the funny thing is, there is no contact information on the bag or anywhere on the products they sell. so if anyone knows about how to contact them prefferably a phone number please let me know. thank you very much.

As Dave notes in the KMM description, ALL the KMM distributed tobacco products are Imported from India. [snip - dupe OT] I have nothing against imported tobacco leaf, and it's a fact that aging the leaf (before it's cased) is required. But you have to wonder how long the packaged stuff sits in docks/warehouses and the hulls of ships before it gets distributed to retailers here. Once it's packaged, I think the fresher it is, the better.

With tobacco blends, there's really no such thing as fresh, its all about the moisture content. Some folks make a hobby of aging tobacco blends.

There must have been tobacco beetles (beetle, egg or larva) in the tobacco when it was packaged. A slow boat from India was probably a good thing. I'd hate to find out I'd been smoking bugs after the fact.
