Texas is a halfzware shag akin to drum, jester, bali blue, samson & D&R's RYBACK of which I think is the smoothest-most tame dutch type of tobaccos out there with lookout a bit on the tame side also.

But be sure!!! halfzware shag is not for the person looking for a 'light' smoke. It is a pain mixing with lighter blends if you have a taste for the dutch. It is not your usual flavor of any U.S. pre mades but shows us the variety of tobaccos out there for we ryo/myo fans.
The back of a can of samson defines "halfzware shag" as a dutch blend composed of bright virginias & the RICHEST dark brown Kentucky tobaccos. So dont be surprised if its strong! because thats what halfzware is.- Re: Texas

You can get it @ Ziggymart. Ziggymart pouch prices are generally pretty steep. The pouch of Texas I got was like a Brillo pad, very dry.

With Drum's high visibility/popularity, the discontinuation of imported Drum, the introduction of US Drum and then New US Drum, there have been a lot of comparisons made. A number of Dutch blends have been touted as comparable at one time or another - Chill's Americana, Peter Stokkebye Amsterdam, Bali, Look-Out, Ryback and probably others (not Texas TTBOMK).
While Dutch tobaccos are typically halfzware's (long fine cut shags with a mix of very dark and lighter tobaccos) and have smells/flavors that set them apart from other tobaccos, all are unique/distinctive. I haven't tried Chill's, PSA or Ryback. While Look-Out and Bali are both good they only bear a family resemblance to Drum (and each other). The only thing I remember about Texas is that it tasted pretty good.
Taste is only one reason Look-Out mild is one of my favorites. I can get it fresh, in cans, and at a good price. Its fine-cut medium-length strands are easier to stuff than the very-fine long-stranded halfzware's. For me Texas strikes out on all but taste.
