Jester
A full flavored Dutch halfzware from Holland. Something like Bali and Drum with a hint of Butterfly. A moist very fine cut shag w/ bits of birdseye. Virginia, Kentucky dark fired and Java tobaccos. Lane LTD. ~$27LB

Another good one in the Halfzware category is Jester, along with its brother Samson and PS's Amsterdam Shag. From Lane: "Jester Premium Rolling Tobacco is a traditional Dutch recipe of premium Virginias, Kentucky dark fired and java leaf, with no artificial additives. This special blend of the finest quality tobaccos, with their distinctively unique characters, harmonize to give Jester its rich, satisfying flavor."

Jester is very similar in strength to Samson, but has java leaf tobacco which gives it a little twist in the halfzware style. Although I cant get this locally, its definitely become a favorite of mine quickly. This is a fine cut shag that requires drying, but then stuffs nicely. Its great how such a satisfying and rich tobacco can be so smooth and mellow at the same time. I think everyone should try this one too. YMMV :)

My experience is not as far flung as most, but this has been my tobacco of choice since the first time I smoked it. As stated, it has a completely unique taste. It's full flavored, almost robust, yet never harsh, or overpowering. It is delicately spicy with many subtleties. The only thing I do not like is that it comes far too moist for injecting and must be dried extensively. I live in a rather humid climate and this can take an entire day when transferred into a freezer bag. On the other hand, it's ideal for hand-rolling, or roll boxes. Everyone should take a turn with Jester.

A rich exotic tasting Dutch style tobacco, not quite as much Kentucky dark fired as Bali Blue. On taste alone, this is my favorite tobacco, but it's a tobacco best enjoyed in moderation. I smoke a couple of thin hand rolled sticks of Jester every day. I've noticed my blander, less expensive, tube injected tobaccos taste better in contrast with the richer Jester. I know that doesn't seem to make sense, but that's my experience.

I'd recommend this to anyone who likes fire cured dutch blends. It's a little pricey, but smoke a stick or two a day and a can will last you for months.

This is an amazing tobacco. The taste is hard to describe, but it is unlike any tobacco I have ever tasted.

Now THIS is good stuff. Similar to Samson but a little more potent and the superfine shag stuffs well after a bit of fiddling. I could smoke this every day if it were available locally.

Very nice flavor. i have not tried anything else like this in premades or roll your own. not my everyday smoke, but I would have no problem if it was all I could find. I think it's something you just have to try for yourself because it's flavor is something thats new to someone switching from premades.

A fine example of a Dutch Halfzware with a twist. The twist is the spicy Java leaf added in just the right proportion to add some zest. The quality of leaf is top notch and the blend is of excellent balance in body, nicotine strength, flavor, aroma both in the can and room aroma. Different than PS Amsterdam and more expensive but the added spice is worth the price. Highly recommended

Although I usually smoke H&R regular I do like something different every now and then. Jester is quite nice. The quantities of Java leaf are not over powering. I usually inject this into a Vera Cruz tube. Not something I would care to smoke daily, but its a nice once in a while smoke.

I didn't really care all that much for Jester, it must be the Java leaf. The pouch was really really dry so maybe if I find a fresher one, I might like it better.

You should give it another chance...it's usually very moist, but I got a pack that was extremely dry recently and it's not as good. Not to mention it makes rolling difficult.

Jester is the perfect mix of American and Dutch style tobaccos with out the crap that is put into most pre-rolled cig's. If I could get it in New Zealand it would be my daily smoke but here I have to pay nearly $30 for a 50 gram pouch of Drum instead and none of the websites will mail out of the 'States. Anyone wanna be my mule? Buck
