Mynheer
Made by Von Eicken (Germany). The American is a SYO friendly medium-fine cut and pretty clean. The Halfzware is a traditional fine cut. Nice tobaccos with a bit too much flavoring.
- Halfzware - Dark Fired and ripe Virginia
- American - Burley, Virginia and Oriental
~$17LB

My initial impression of this has been very positive. It is extremely clean, with a smooth, rich taste.

I purchased a can on sale and it came with a 3/4 oz pouch. The pouch is all I've smoked, so far. I will be able to make a better appraisal once I get into the can, but as it stands, I think I may end up preferring this over Drum.- Re: Mynheer Halfzware

I've just ordered another 27 cans from 'Lil Brown Smoke Shack. This tobacco is very clean and is the closest to the brands I rolled back in the '60s and '70's. Back then I smoked Rotterdam Shag and Rossli. The importer, Krytek, just will not import the "full" Zware Mynheer into the USA. I don't know why but I have not given up and will do whatever it takes to obtain a supply.

I always enjoy sitting down with my supermatic priemer & opening a can/package of tobacco I've not yet tried; In this case a German made 'American blend'; they also offer a halfzware shag but I've filled my likes & dislikes in that area. Its very well packaged in a McClintock type 200 gram(7OZ?)'can'also 50 bull brand papers (made in Austria!)On the side of the can its described as "..fine toasted Burley and rich Virginia with a touch of Orential tobacco..." & thats just what I found!! A nice toasty Burley & not the cheap kind of Burley you find in those gas station generic brands, it reminded me of a lighter McClintock Virginia with toasted Burley & a main component of good Virginia with a slight hint of vanilla that most may not even taste & maybe I should not even mention. Its not as moist as McClintock Virginia & same cut. Being a regular smoker of the Virginia style & Canadian blends I liked this brand very much but would not pay the premium $15-$16 per can prices I see on some webstores. Its out there in the $7.xx range & I will be ordering more of this.

This was unavailable for awhile. I had loved it as an occasional smoke, maybe 15 cigarettes a week of this. It had that unusual aroma and taste that I really liked after a good meal. It came in 50 gram bags, and a large plastic rectangular tub. For at least 2 years it was nowhere to be found, and I wrote Germany looking.

Suddenly it was back. New graphics, new large container, but same general taste. But not exactly as I remembered. Not as flavorfull. With the older material, I often added a Canadian blend to tame it slightly. Not needed anymore. Of course, when I found it cheaply available, I smoke it alot more often now.

My first impression was that this was a pretty good tobacco, a nicely cut/clean golden shag with rather unique flavoring/aromatics (vanilla and something tropical) and a bright/clean taste. Well I'm pretty sensitive to smells and I'm not so sure I like the smell or associated taste and slight bitterness. Its also a bit on the strong/buzzy side. Its not a bad tobacco and it may just be a bit of hypersensitivity on my part. I got some Peter Stokkebye Danish (just Virginia tobaccos) at the same time. Once I got the Danish dried out enough to stuff I was smoking/enjoying it more than the Mynheer American.
