I had been buying Sagamore Natural from RYO for some time now, and always been happy with the tobacco and their service. Recently I discovered King Mountain tobacco at Lil' Brown Smoke Shack.

I emailed King Mountain asking if their tobacco was additive / preservative free, and got no reply. So I emailed Lil' Brown and did get a reply - it is additive free.
The King Mountain tobacco is a little finer cut than the Sagamore. Comparing them side by side the King Mountain has a much nicer aroma when you open the bag. It is a bit milder smoke, but seems to have a fuller flavor than the Sagamore.
I buy 3 pound at a time and save about $20 on the order getting the King Mountain from Lil' Brown rather than Sagamore from RYO. Both King Mountain Tobacco and Lil' Brown are owned by the Yakama Indian Nation. I've only ordered one time from them so far, but that order was at my door within two days.

I just wanted to post a comment about this company. I have been using them as my main retailer for a some time now. I recently had a problem with an order and they were fast(received a call back within 12 hours of my initial email) friendly and seemed more than happy to resolve my issue.

Iam very happy to have found a retailer that cares about its customers.
Great service, reasonable pricing, great product.
I have no reason to purchase from anywhere else.- Re: Roll Your Own Tobacco

I've used RYO Tobacco and like them. However I will say on one occasion I ordered some clove tobacco from them and quite frankly, the very strong smell permeated EVERY THING in the shipping box. They are a good vendor but they should have known better! :)

I saw that you ordered clove tobacco before and I am trying to find clove tobacco. I went to RYO Tobacco and did a search for clove and didn't get anything back. Can you give me more specifics please. Thanks. Please respond directly to my e-mail if you don't mind.

Just wanted to chip in and state that I've only placed three orders with these folks, but that I have no complaints with their products (so far), service, or helpfulness. Each time my orders were processed quickly and arrived from Austin, Texas to the Tampa Bay area in Florida in 3 days USPS Express Mail. Any questions have been answered promptly and generally in a helpful way.

RYOT is certainly on my top 3 vendor list for ryo/myo products, information, and service. (D&R, RYOT, LBSS).- Re: RYOT

I've always had good service with these folks! Their products have been in good shape when delivered too, and well packed! My top 3 list is the same as Wazmo's!

I also wanted to throw in my 2 cents as well. Checking prospective retailers out PRIOR to purchase can save you from grief! I learned that the hard way, and vowed to check here first--from then on!

I've ordered from them several times, their prices are good. The tobacco is fresh, the shipping is really fast. The d&r prices are a little higher, but I find that the lesser shipping charge benefits me. Don't hesitate to order from these people.

Don't order the oilskin pouch...it smells like a beach ball and stinks much worse than the rubber pad on the Top-O-Matic. The loud vinyl smell will permeate & ruin your tobacco.

After several orders, RYO Tobacco is now my main source for my tobacco, supplies and accessories. Their shipping is quick, customer service is outstanding, selection is great, their prices are some of the best on the web, and they are always happy to help you out with any problems or questions you may have.

If you haven't ordered from them before you should really give them a try.- Re: Roll Your Own Tobacco A+ Excellent

I'd like to take a chance on 'em, but the three times I've tried to communicate with them either by phone or e-mail, they have been either unresponsive, curt or dismissive. It's a shame, because I was trying to find out about their Sagamore Virginia,... I never did.

That's really odd! I was ordering from them several years ago until my local smoke shop started stocking the same thing I was ordering from them. It seemed to me that they were like a mom & pop place because I always got the same guy on the phone. At the time I had nothing but good experiences with them. Obviously somethings changed since i've last used them if they gave you attitude like you described above. Who needs that?

Since my local shop can't get McClintock Virgina anymore i've gone back to the net for ordering. I just received a package from D&R. I used them instead of the other place because I was interested in their Ramback Gold. It got to NY from NC in 2 days, they were good on the phone and everything was in order.
Looks like i'll be ordering from D&R for the foreseeable future.

I have only dealt with RYO in my very short experience with MYO. However, with 10 cartons worth of tobacco and tube's, an Excel machine, and the EURO cases, I am very pleased. Excellent service and delivery. I will continue to do all of my business with RYO. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I relieved my first order from Roll Your Own Tobacco on Thursday. I had ordered it over the weekend. The equivalent 3 day shipping at a flat rate of $6.50 is great. That evening, when life had slowed a little, I started opening bags and tins. A tin of Charles Fairmorn Dark Fired Shag, that had piqued my curiosity, and a can of Chills Americana were found to be very dried out and brittle. Worst I have ever seen. All other items in my order were in excellent condition i.e. Sagamore Light and Canadian, Sportsman Vanilla, Djarum Filtra, Gizah Silver Tip and Charbon Tubes, etc.

Life intruded again and it wasn't until late afternoon that I had a chance to contact RYOT. Since it was just after five p.m., using the phone was out and I shot them an e-mail expressing my displeasure and seeking a solution. In less than thirty minutes I received this reply:
How about a new can of fairmorn which we will check and a pound of sagamore halfzware which is the chills that has been rehydrated. We will send out on Monday. No Charge and just throw the other stuff out. The chills was either real good or real bad so we started just rehydrating it in our plant. Distilled water will work if you want to get some and try it out - Warning any other water will cause mold. IT HAS TO BE DISTILLED.
The fairmorn has never had a problem before but I guess we will now have to check it all. It just came in about 3 weeks ago and is supposed to be good for up to 3 years but who knows.
We will always try to fix any problems if we are told so don't be afraid to mention a mess up.
We can't fix what we don't know about.
Thanks
Ric G
This was more than satisfactory to me and I just wanted to pass along how good and prompt their customer service has been for me.- Re: Chills vs Sagamore Halfzware
- Posted by Tim Aydt on Monday, 08-Nov-2004
After receiving both, I cannot tell the difference between the two. And I could probably identify at least five different types of halfzwares by sight alone.

They are the same color, cut, consistency, and same amount of birdseye. Plus, they taste the same. I really do believe that they are one in the same.- Re: Chills vs Sagamore Halfzware
- Posted by Rob on Wednesday, 10-Nov-2004
As I understand it the Sagamore halfzware is rehydrated chills because I bought some chills when it was on sale at ryotobacco.com & complained about how 'powdery & dried out' it was first offered by by the Texas big boy of RYO & they(Rick?) sent me a bag of the halvfzware telling me the story about buying up all the Chills that had gone out of business. And you can ask them but I think the Sagamore "mild American" is repacked Brookfield.

Great prices right now (end of May '04)!!! They have just added some great new product of which I have just stocked up on. Check this out:

Gizeh - Silver Tip Light Filter Tubes (200ct box)
5 boxes for $12.50
El Rey - El Rey Light Filter Tubes 5 pack (200ct. boxes)
5 boxes for $12.50
These are some of best tubes made and in medium bulk like up above they are only $2.50 a box! This is a very reasonable price for such a good product. Plus hardly anyone ever has Gizeh Silver Tip Lights or El Ray Lights!
This is my second order with RYO Cigarette.com Lets see how they do. The first time was a while ago and was unremarkable so I forget it. This should be coming standard $6.50 flat rate USPS Priority... we'll see.
