D&R Tobacco

Daughters & Ryan, Inc., dba D&R Tobacco, is a manufacturer, distributor and retailer of many highly rated tobaccos. The best selection of tubes I have seen. 3.5oz. sample cans and assorted kits. The site is out of date and badly organized. Product prices are reasonable (their tobaccos are ~$19 - $25 per LB). Shipping charges are on the high side (15-20%). For Customer Service call 1-877-989-9458 or email them, most folks recommend calling.

...The original D&R site now only sells accessories and is called Bec's Accessories. The tobacco sales side of the business is now located at smoke-n-chew.com and is called Trisha's Cafe. Presumably Bec and Trisha are the names of Mark Ryans daughters.

This is my second time ordering from Trish's cafe, and to say the customer service is super awesome is not saying enough. I have ordered D&R Ramback Gold now twice with the shipping leaving the same day the order was placed with certified tracking and emails. The packaging was awesome and the tobacco was as fresh as could be.These guys are top notch and the cheapest on the web. With super great selections, low prices, and customer service out of this world I will be a customer for life. Thanks again my good friends at Trish's cafe!!!

BlackCatCigars.com has the lowest prices on D&R Tobacco, buy in bulk and save even more $$$. Rimboche(Perique) AP & SJ, my favorite blends of tobacco, cost $30 for a 14oz bag and $85(3) 14oz bags. +$6-$10 for shipping.

TOBACCO ARRIVES FRESH EVERYTIME.

I use Beretta Tubes(Original) & Vera Cruz Midnite Tubes.

The ONLY web site that carries the "absolute" full line of D&R Tobacco's is Trisha's Cafe - www.smoke-n-chew.com/

They don't have samples per say but they do have 40 gram (1.4 oz.) tins. Now to me this is better because while some sites may have a few samples, Trisha's Cafe has the full line of D&R Tobacco in 1.4 oz tins.

As far as Shipping charges go, a $197 order is $10 (Fed-Ex) that's about 5%.

The site now seems to be very well organized.

On another note, if you like Peter Stokkebye you can get the Norwegian, Amsterdam, Danish or Turkish for $19.95 (16 oz) [link] scroll to the very bottom of that page.

Now that the over reaching parasite government has basically killed off D&R's ryo business we've all had to change our behavior. I've gone back to smoking store bought smokes...and they still suck. I've been searching for a store that carries their full tobacco line (pipe cut) so I cut start stuffing again ( now with new government mandated cutting required to convert the shred over to cigarette size :( ). I did a long search today and finally found this site, [link] . The seem to carry the full line. If anyone else has links to other D&R retailers could you please post them so we can all shop around for the best price.

Hmm.. I just got some nice Three Sails delivered to me. So I'm not sure what you mean killed off. D&R is alive and well, in spite of your anti-government ramblings.

Admin note: The link to Trisha's Cafe (where D&R now sells their tobacco direct) was missing when STF posted.

I'm buying most of my D&R Tobacco from "smokingpipes.com". They don't carry all the blends but enough to keep me happy. I think they have the best price for a single bag on the net. And shipping(UPS) is free on orders over $95.00. I get my orders 2 days faster then Trisha's Cafe Value Delivery.
The bags are listed under "Tinned Tobacco" and "Daughters-Ryan"

I don't usually do this. I'm a longtime (5-6 years, before he went mailorder and was just a tiny shop) loyal customer of Ricks at BR Tobacco (ryotobacco.com)- and will continue to be as he carries some products that I'm highly satisfied with and arent available unless I tried to import them from Germany and England myself......... but.......
After a long conversation with Patsy @ D&R on what was just a nominal order to try some new things that BR Tobacco/ryotobacco isnt carrying yet- I just have to comment on the absolutely FABULOUS way that D&R (or at least Patsy) treated me. She was genuinely friendly, courteous, knowledgeable... I couldnt rave enough about this experience if I tried. In a world where mailorder is often outsourced and impersonal and the customer is oft made to feel that they are placing an imposition whoever is on the other end of the phone- D&R has provided a refreshing experience. I've had rude people on the phone put me in a crappy mood for the rest of the day, this is the first time in a long time that placing a sub $50 order has put me in a good mood.
Bravo to D&R. Hope the good service continues.

I still prefer ryotobacco. They put 16 ounces of tobacco in a bag instead of fourteen and don't charge me 20% shipping. I don't usually look for social interaction from a tobacco vendor so I place all my orders on the internet.

Like dc, I have had great experiences with D & R in my dealings with them so far; I have placed 2 orders, and when I called for the tracking number on my last order I got a personable, friendly and prompt response from them. The items I like the most so far are the Variety and Refill kits. Being new to MYO, the variety kits are great for me, as I get to try out new tubes every order, without buying them in quantity. Additionally, I like the Ten Slash Two packs, so that I can try out different varieties of the tobaccos they offer. I have found that 1 oz. samples are not large enough for me to get a good "taste" of a particular type of tobacco, or test out the many blending possibilities I can come up with. The 3.5 oz tubs seem to be just the right amount for me to 'get to know' the tobacco. Both of my orders have come in excellent condition via UPS Ground (the words 'tobacco' and 'cigarette' are not used anywhere in the shipping information on the box, so any anti-smoking zealot that may be out there has no idea what's in it), and I appreciated that they thoroughly shrink wrapped the menthol tubes I ordered for my neighbor to prevent any transfer of smells to my FF tubes and tobacco! The tobacco itself arrived in perfect condition for stuffing right out of the bags. Their website is pretty easy to navigate as far as ordering is concerned, which is a plus. Shipping charges are a bit more than others I have ordered from so far, but for me, it's well worth the extra expense to receive my order in such good condition and in a timely manner. These first positive experiences with D & R put them at the top of my list for reliable smoking supplies.

I would suggest if you order from D&R again that you request an actual shipping charge in the comments section on the order form if you feel you are being overcharged!
This is a quote from from the Order Info section on their web page:

"IMPORTANT - Shipping & Handling Clarification
Shipping and handling charges reflected in the S&H table of our Catalog are for USA sales, and are based on estimates as close to actual costs as possible. If your shipping charge estimate (pulled from the S&H table) is too high, we will adjust the S&H cost of your order. We will never increase the S&H charge to our customer."

I just got my first order the other day and am, in general, pleased. Although the order was missing a couple of items, Gloria responded to my email within the hour and shipped the missing items. I asked for and got some very (and I mean VERY) generous samples of Rimboche and Three Sails, as well as a comp 3.5 oz tub of Ramback Balkan.
I rolled a couple of sticks of each type and all are fresh, well sealed and excellent quality. So far, excellent experience all the way 'round.

i've heard of them giving away tobacco when ordering new blends or sometimes even just ordering consistently, but this much? maybe it's because my rizla de-luxe tubes are "new" and no longer german or even "de-luxe."

regardless, thanks d&r! easily the best tobacconist around for my dollar.

I love hearing stories like this, It's exactly why I no longer use their products or order from them any more. I always ordered from them online. Ordered from them about ten times and spent around $1,500.00 Never even got a free lighter. They don't give me anything extra but now I order mostly from RYO tobacco and Custom Blends.

I can't say that I base my decisions on whom to do business with on what they do or don't give me for free, but I've never received anything out of the blue and unexpected from them either...however they did send me a box each of the two styles of Ramback tubes awhile back when I asked for a small sample (expecting nothing more than a couple of tubes of each).

For what I do expect out of a business, however -- excellent customer service, quality products and a knowledgable staff -- D&R possesses in spades.

You should call them, they made a mistake, and it cost them.

I agree. One thing I don't like about their website, is if you select to buy multiple bags of tobacco to get it cheaper you can only select one type of tobacco. If you select 5 Bags of tobacco one at a time the discount doesn't show up.

Re: new bags

In my last order from D&R were two bags of tobacco in the new plastic bag. Less vacuum, and fresh. I have been taking my gold bags and emptying them in my Lock & Lock Storage Containers with a damp sponge 1 inch square in a shot glass. In about 8 hours the tobacco loosens up enough to easily inject. I'll leave the sponge in the container till all the tobacco has loosened up, or when I get a reading of 65% RH. I like it that way, because I have a true 14 Oz. bag of tobacco, and am not paying for water weight. Prior to bagging the tobacco should be misted lightly with distilled water, but who's to say? I just received my order of Ramback Gold from D&R & after reading some reviews here about mold & other dry out problems I can say that with the Ramback Gold that may be a little forgiving if it is a little dry I say "ITS PERFECT!" and every order from D&R has been. I must admit I thought some Vengeur seemed real dry a few years ago I still rate D&R #1 on the list as well as the Ramback Gold that was able to wean me from MC Virgina, I must admit that reading some of the reviews here about mold & the such ALMOST had me looking at Sagamore Virgina but I thought I would give D&R & as long as the Ramback Gold stays on his menu I'am there. D&R order mold
Posted by platoslostdialogue on Friday, 12-Jan-2007

Got a $200+ order from D&R that included two bags of Rowland Light, one Rowland reg, two windsail platinum, two timer, ramback gold, ryback gold, both the cigar blends and a rimboche. With the exception of two bags, they had all lost their seal and were dry as bones. The two that were still sealed were the rimboche and ryback. After opening a few of the dry ones I wondered if any of them were still fresh, and I went for the ryback, only to find it was MOLDY! Whoever it was (Kerry?) that was talking about their bags being crappy certainly has a point. I don't know if I'll be doing future bussiness with them, even thought I love their product and customer service, its too much for shipping for a inferior product. I'm pretty pissed, just thought you all should know.

Yes, give them a call or email. I received several bags from D&R just before December month-end without any issues. I've ordered from them for a few years without issues but this time I was shorted half my Charbon tubes. Gloria resent the tubes via express mail but they never arrived (not unusual with the US postal service). I finally emailed her back yesterday morning stating the problem so they resent the tubes via UPS. I got a tracking number later that day. No fuss or questions from D&R.
