I'd go to Lil' Brown Smoke Shack( [link] ). They have alot of cheap tobaccos. They are pipe tobaccos that work for cigs. I've had really good service with them. Call them if you have any questions. Of the cheap tobaccos I like "Wind River Bold"(16oz/$13.85) and I heard "The Good Stuff"(16oz/13.45) is good. I haven't tried it. They have others a little bit cheaper. But I really like "Peter Stokkebye's Nowegian"(16oz/$19.75) in the bulk pipe tobacco section. It's the best.

As far as your machine goes. It take practice. just don't force it and abuse it. I've been making my own with the same supermatic for over 10 years. Over a carton a week. I've replace parts and rebuilt a couple of times. more the first couple of years then now. Read up on the machines here. Good luck.- Re: Need cheap

I recently discovered Traffic pipe tobacco here in East TN.
It is flue cured Virginia tobacco from North Carolina.
I prefer a milder smoke so, I tried the Smooth Virginia. I'm quite pleased with it and it has an introductory price of $8.69/LB here in TN. Avialable in Regular Virginia and Menthol Virginia also.
It does have some sticks and eyes in it, but definately not bad.
Would make a good blending tobacco to make some pricier tobaccos go further. It is available online but, not at $9/LB.
Still, at the regular price of $12.99/LB, it's worth it.- Re: Need cheap

That's cheap. The cheapest I've found online are Buoy ($11lb) and OHM ($52 for 5lbs), both from Tobacco General [link]. I've only tried the Natural's and both are decent, a bit better than The Good Stuff's ($13lb) IMO.

Yeah, It's a crap shoot with pipe tobacco. I've bought numerous bags of stuff that either I couldn't smoke at all or it seemed pretty good for a while, then I start hacking my head off. I've been through almost 2 pounds of Traffic and I haven't had a terrible hacking spell (or hurting lungs!).... Like the last stuff I was smoking (L a r g o mellow). Won't use it no more. A friend of mine buys alot of Stookybe and D&R. He said, "yeah, the thing is, Stookybe and D&R wash all the insecticide off the tobacco". He likes to argue, so I didn't say anything. I was thinking, "Yeah right, so Stookybe and D&R grow their own"? ... I don't think so. So, that means they buy off a warehouse/marketplace floor just like most everybody else. Ya can't wash the insecticide off cured, stacked tobacco!!! :o ) Even if it was supposedly "insecticide free" grown tobacco, how do they know. Anyway, that's just my opinion. I sent him a link to the OHM baccy. Maybe he'll buy some and I can try it. Interesting. Apparently it's an Illinois product (TP-IL on the package). Cheers, Daryl

Well, now I will unsuggest the Traffic tobacco. It now has some kind of flavoring/casing in it. I've quit buying it. Guess I'm just going to have to shell out more money on D&R or Stokkeby products.
