tobacco cutter/grinder??

I have been in the habit of cutting my tobacco down for a while now
only one big problem...I am sick and tired of nearly cutting my finger off
this came up once before and Dave said he could see where cutting the strands down would be ok, but the fluff-stuff was better for (cough) "newbies".....
so, I ask the whole lot if there is a reason I shouldn't cut it (other than my finger) please share, and most important..is there a cutter that could be recommended??
I also just discovered I have been slightly overstuffing/overtapping, again

in my case it wasn't tamping, it was using tobacco that was too far cut into short strands...the fact that I use modified clone machines means they tend to fill a tube tighter and fuller by nature so thank god the forum stopped me dead in my tracks...thanks again folks!!!!

Mike, I can't think of any reason you should cut it! Why are you doing it? I've always thought the tobacco [is] as it is intended to be used by the manufacturer when you open the container as far as cut goes. I think you are doing a lot of un-necessary work, and from what you are saying, dangerous for you to a degree. Ask yourself--is it really worth it? I think you mentioned to me a while back that you enjoy playing Poker on Saturday nights. Have you ever tried to deal cards with nine fingers? Or, use the rest room, toss a salad etc?

You should have enough short cuts after each injection session. Do you sometimes end up with more shake than usual?
Why not try using your tobacco as is, cut wise; for a few weeks and see if you notice any difference? If nothing else, you'll have more time to enjoy your tobacco! Capt. Mike

nope, poker player wasn't me
I just got annoyed packing fluffy strands compared to cut-down, and also, never have had a shake problem, since my tobacco gets nasty when dried
I stopped the second I read Wazmo's post though I only made about one since I was bedbound. I am sitting here making them now- no problem
my thinking was that the cut tobacco would be stronger (which I like, I am a human carcinogen), AND burn more even, AND easier to load
as said before, Dave didn't tell me not to, so I just carried on.....I'll see how I like it this way

If it is thin you want why not use a shag cut to begin with? lots less hassle.

I'm pretty stuck on PTT, until I figure out the perfect money scam I know I will figure out soon, and go back to Vengeur
so far, agree with Wazmo about not noticing a difference in burn/smoke ratio, but I do notice the fluff still gets on my nerves

Just curious...why were/are you cutting your tobacco? I seem to remember trying that many years ago when I first started this bidniz on the advice of another, but there seemed to be no discernable difference to me whether I did it or not.

Quite! Wipe Nairz on--wipe hairz off. I don't see the benefit of re-cutting tobacco. In fact, it seems to invite more troubles like over packed smokes, shake etc, don't you think? Capt Mike

The only positive I can think of is getting a more homogeneous blend when combining tobaccos with differing cuts.
