Site Layout
Posted by Wazmo Nariz on Friday, 29-Jun-2007
Just checkin' out the new site layout...seems nice so far, but with IE7, your footer doesn't appear all the way down at the bottom of the page. Currently, it's residing right across the comment box on this page.
Other than that, a nice spruce up!

It should be fine on IE7 now (also IE5.5). If anyone else has layout issues I need to know.

Looks good from here and, so far, really slowed down all the crap posts!

Thanks much!- Re: Site Layout

The goal is to create ways to separate chitchat from content. While there are a lot of good posts, the noise level has increased. I'm hoping the Forum can function as a clearinghouse (not sure of the details yet) and News as a heavily condensed What's New. I have lots of ideas but they take time (some of current changes were first brought up years! ago).

Still, THANKS for all your hard work Dave! I've done what you are trying to do and I know how much time it can consume! Not to mention how much it is, mostly, not appreciated by bandwidth consumers who think this is a personal "blog" (hate that word!). I certainly wish they would simply start their own web site/"blog" and take all that "noise" to their own little world.
OK, off of my soapbox.
Standard disclaimer:
My posts are simply MHO. Your HO most likely will vary from my own.

Still having an issue with the footer using IE7. It appears at the bottom of the page so long as the page isn't "long (i.e. doesn't require scrolling)," but going to a page that requires scrolling down, the footer moves upwards as you scroll down.

It seems fine in Firefox 2 and Opera 9.2...the footer stays properly anchored at the bottom of the page. Must be a CSS issue with IE7.
Other than that...thanks for the hard work in gussy-ing up the place!- Re: Site Layout

Belay that last...just to check, I cleared out IE7's cache and all is well. It musta been retaining the old stylesheet or some of the pages from before you fixed it.

Just a note to let you know that the new site works nicely with Safari 2.x.

One negative comment, your graphic designer needs to learn about kerning i.e. "Stuffing Your Own."- Re: Logo

I had noticed the uneven letter spacing in the logo. It was a quick and dirty that I did with some online tool. I've replaced it with one that I tweaked, its just a stopgap. I was working with one of the sites users (rasher, who did the favicon) on something better, hopefully we can revive that at some point.
